The City of Wadena Utilities Department has completed and submitted our service line materials inventory to the Minnesota Department of Health.

The service line inventory is publicly available, and you can check the materials for your service line by visiting the Lead Inventory Tracking Tool (LITT) at https://maps.umn.edu/LSL/ you may also contact us at 218-631-7712 or Email: utilitysupt@wadena.org. To complete the service line inventory our system City personnel reviewed utility records and visited properties with no records to determine service the line material used. As of 10/30/2024, our inventory contains 0 lead, 183 galvanized requiring replacement, 1,384 unknown material, and 146 non-lead service lines.

To identify the material used for your water service line go to your water meter and find the pipe below your water meter that usually comes through the floor. Once the pipe is located it will most likely be made out of copper, galvanized coated steel or plastic. If you are not sure of the material used, you can see if a magnet will stick to it, if it does, it is made of steel.

The City of Wadena Utilities Department is responsible for the quality water and electrical service we enjoy. Wadena's rates are among the lowest in the state.

Through the Bright Energy Solutions rebate program, Wadena Light and Water was able to present rebates to Maslowski Wellness and Research Center and Reuter Family Dental. This program encourages energy efficient choices by offering cash incentives or qualifying equipment. The ultimate goal of this program is to help customers save money on their electrical usage and help control the use of a valuable resource.

Missouri River Energy Services is a not-for-profit joint-action agency that provides electric power and other energy services to 61 municipal electric utilities in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
